Medieval Books of Hours functioned as both almanacs and personal prayer books, linking the cycles and activities of the year's seasons and days to the appropriate spiritual awareness that one should have at each hour of each season.

The cycles of our modern days and years are no longer as linked to the cycles of the land and of nature as they once were. In the struggle to conceive of a modern Book of Hours, I settled on showing the cycles of nature itself. The book uses no ink, and is entirely cut from paper. It depicts the progression of the year's seasons, and so is in a carousel format: when it is tied open, the cycle repeats with no beginning and no end. The book can also be viewed stretched out as an accordion, or paged through as a normal codex. Edition of 3 unique hand-cut copies.
